Jovan hopped out of the BMW, seething. He slammed the door so hard, it was a miracle that nothing was damaged. Jovan fell against the door, struggling to control his growing rage.

The entire trip, from the time they hit the Parkway, until the moment they arrived at Ray’s house, Jovan hadn’t spoken one word.

Ray moseyed around the car, giggling and holding his stomach. He planted himself in the spot beside his man. “C’mon, J, I know you ain’t gonna hold this shit against me, dawg,” he said, tossing his hands in the air in submission. “C’mon now, playboy, we better than that,” Ray said, his lips contorting just before a loud cackle slipped out. He was tickled pink by the crazy look on Jovan’s face.

Jovan glared at Ray, his expression acrid. “Nigga, what you take me for, a joke?” he snapped, then lost control.

Ray was simultaneously stunned and dazed when he caught the full blast of a stiff right hook across his chin. Ray’s knees buckled. He wobbled as he attempted to gather his bearings. Jovan followed up with a hard left to the temple and a vicious right body shot.

By the time Ray realized what had happened, he was on his hands and knees gasping for air. Jovan hovered over him, chastising him sharply for putting his livelihood at stake.

Suddenly a stream of halogen lights spilled across the ivory driveway, distracting Jovan. He stared down the black car as it charged down the pavement and skidded to a halt with just two feet to spare.

Jovan mugged the trio with an intense look as they hurried over to aid their fallen boss.

“Main man, what’s going on?” Psycho voiced, matching Jovan’s tough look. He and Dank hoisted Ray to his feet and leaned him against the hood of the Dodge.

“Chill,” Ray grumbled, snatching his arm from the gunner’s grasp. “This between J and me.” There was a heavy scowl hanging from Ray’s grill as he adjusted his dark denim jacket and straightened his jeans. “I got this,” he muttered more so to himself.

Ray’s devious look didn’t go unnoticed. “Yeah, I hope you got it,” Jovan fired back coldly as his eyes turned an icy gray. Aggressive animosity pulsated from his form as he strolled to his Mercedes Benz.

Jovan’s unyielding nature served as an obvious warning sign to Ray and the crew as they watched with a look of sheer prudence.

Hopping into his coupe, he whipped the ride around and went roaring up the ivory pavement, disappearing into the night.
